Rotational Grazing

When we purchased the farms in 2002, there was no interior fencing in the pasture and therefore no way of controlling the grazing of our livestock, and subsequently the animals were over-grazing the entire farm.  Our first conservation technique was a simple one, we added a cross fence creating two pastures from the one 85 acre pasture.  Each pasture has approximately 40 45 acres and each contains a stock tank for a water source.  Where necessary each pasture has contoured terraces to prevent erosion and stock tanks to prevent excessive runoff.
